Initial research project around Duane Hanson’s realist figures.
My interest in Hanson’s work lies in his obvious strength, the context in which his work is sited and this subtle slip in reality that is experienced. I’m attempting to look at Hanson’s work through a wider lens where this hyper reality is confronted with reality – a more interpersonal or relation approach. In addition I have been gathering peripheral stories – biographies that begin to personify these sculptures beyond fiberglass, Bondo and archetypes.
Car Dealer – The watch on this sculpture has been dormant for years. This project is essentially about replacing the batteries in these sculptures or inhabiting them in some way.
